Building, Structural and Homebuyer Surveys
This type of survey provides a comprehensive report on the condition of a property, whether you already own it or are considering a purchase. This report is especially useful in highlighting potential building defects and hazardous materials, which may affect the property’s value. We also suggest what remedial work is required and how much it would cost.
Our surveyors offer a range of building surveys with differing levels of detail. This enables us to tailor our service to your requirements, while saving you money. There is no need to pay for a higher level of detail than you need.
Should you discover a fault with your property, Architects Corporation can carry out an investigative survey. This will allow us to establish the cause of the fault and provide expert advice with regard to remedial works required to fix it. Common problems investigated by us include damp and structural cracks. While these are not always major problems, they can be serious, so it is important to have them checked out as soon as possible.
Party Wall Surveys / Awards and Boundary Disputes
Building works involving neighbouring or adjoining properties are covered by the Party Wall Act 1996. This means that you may need a survey and documentation put together before construction can begin. Works covered by the law are those involving:
- A wall, floor or ceiling shared with another property
- Building on the boundary with another property
- Excavating within 6 meters of an adjoining property

As members of the RICS and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the Architects Corporation are suitably experienced and qualified to act as mediators in property related disputes. When required we can provide Expert Witness statements for legal cases and attend court proceedings to provide expert evidence. This need not be in the Watford area – we offer our services in Hertfordshire, London and other areas of the South East.
